The information you provide when you apply to Home-Link for housing is used to assess your housing need but it is also used for the prevention and detection of fraud. The declaration section at the end of application form (on-line and paper versions) that you sign gives councils permission to do this.
The government set up the National Fraud Initiative so that information held by different organisations can be shared and compared to prevent and detect fraud which protects public money.
